Schools
This section is based on a 6-week series that ran in the Chillicothe Constitution-Tribune (April-May 2024) on the history of the ward schools of Chillicothe by Brenda O'Halloran and Kirsten Mouton of the Livingston County Preservation Society. When the last two ward schools, Dewey and Field, shut their doors for the last time in May of 2024, the Chillicothe ward school system established by special charter in 1865 came to an end.
