Elizabeth E. (Morris) Coffman
Elizabeth Ethel was born to Edward and Ethyl Morris in 1916. She grew up in Livingston County, graduating from Chillicothe High School and the Chillicothe Business College (CBC). She married Richard Coffman in 1935 and they had one son, Lewis. She taught at Green Grove rural school and the CBC. Elizabeth started work at the Livingston County Memorial Library in 1953. In 1958 she became the Acting Librarian for the Library after the death of director, Frances Elliott. Upon receiving her Master’s of Library Science, Elizabeth was officially promoted and served as the head librarian from 1964 to 1969. For many years she wrote a column for the newspaper entitled “What’s New at the Livingston County Memorial Library.” She was included in the 1970-1971 edition of “Who’s Who of American Women.” In late 1969 she retired to move to Cheyenne, Wyoming as the new technical services coordinator for their State Library. She died there in 1981 and was brought back to Edgewood Cemetery for burial.
